Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) and assistant commissioner (AC) Land in Harinakundu during a drive, fined shop owners and pedestrians for not maintaining health guidelines including wearing masks. They collected the fines conducting separate mobile courts on Thursday.
UNO Syeda Nafiz Sultana said she and AC Land, also executive magistrate in the upazila Razia Akter Chowdhury conducted drives in the upazila head quarters.
They fined Taka five thousand to cement trader Kazi traders for running trade without valid license.
The courts also fined some of the pedestrians for not wearing face masks. Some businessmen in the upazila were also fined as they were rendering services without face masks.
