Shilpakala Academy starts month-long mourning progs

A month-long mourning programme began at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from Monday. Shilpakala Academy organised the programme to pay tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who was assassinated along with most of his family members on 15 August in 1975. 

The programme began with playing the flute which created an atmosphere of deep mourning among the audience. Later a discussion was held at the auditorium of the National Music and Dance Centre there, said a press release

Renowned poet Nirmolendu Goon and dramatist Ataur Rahman attended the programme as special guests with BSA Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky in the chair. Cultural Affairs Secretary Md Abul Monsur attended the programme as the chief guest.

At the programme, noted reciter Jayanto Chattopadhyay recited the poetry of Habibullah Siraji while poet Nirmolendu Goon recited Sei Ratrir Kolpokahini where they depicted the tragic picture of murdering Bangabandhu and his family.

Shilpakala academy has also arranged a cultural function featuring chorus songs, solo music, poetry recitation and solo children's music where the performers depicted the story of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

Besides, as part of the tribute programme, Shilpakala Academy opened a month-long art exhibition titled "Bhasha Andolon, Muktijuddho O Bangabandhu" at its National Art Gallery on Monday. The show will continue till 31 August.
