Shariatpur farmers get incentive for Aush farming

A total of 2,400 small and marginal farmers in Zanjira upazila of Shariatpur district were given seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agro incentive for the cultivation of Aush paddy in the current Kharif-1 season.

The amount of incentive support and the number of farmers have been increased significantly in the current financial year 2022-23 in the district, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said.

Zanjira Upazila Parishad Chairman Mobarak Ali Sikdar handed over the incentive among the farmers as the chief guest on Thursdayafternoon at a function at the upazila parishad premises with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kamrul Hasan Sohel in the chair.

Zanjira Municipality Mayor Idris Madbar, Upazila Women Vice-Chairman Parveen Akhter, Upazila Awami League President GM Nurul Haque and its General Secretary Abu Taleb Chowkidar, among others, were present as special guests.

Bilaspur Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Quddus Bepari, Additional Agriculture Officer Md. Nazmul Huda and members of various Union Parishads and hundreds of farmers were also present on the occasion.

Under the programme, each farmer was given five kilograms of Ufsi Aush paddy seed, 10-kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizers and 10-kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizers free of cost for cultivating one bigha of land, upazila agriculture officer agriculturist Jamal Hossain said.
