Shakib unfit for Chattogram Test against Pakistan

Shakib Al Hasan did not travel to Chittagong with Bangladesh team on Tuesday (November 23) afternoon as the members of the Test team flew to Chittagong on a chartered flight.

However, the world's best all-rounder did not go to the port city as he is unfit to play the first Test on Friday (November 26). Chief selector Minhajul Abedin confirmed the matter to Cricfrenzy.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has named the squad for the Test series against Pakistan, which will be played Friday in Chittagong. Shakib was also in the 16-men squad, but his fitness concerned was there.

"We will obviously have to wait to see if Shakib makes it for the first Test" Nannu said on Friday.

Shakib returned home from the United States on Sunday night to play the Test series. He suffered a hamstring injury in the middle of the World Cup. Return to family in the USA from Dubai. There he was in the rehabilitation process.

Bangladesh will also be without Tamim Iqbal who was ruled out of the Test series with a second fracture on his left thumb, sustained during an Everest Premier League match in October. Mahmudullah isn't part of the squad either, having announced his Test retirement during Bangladesh's last Test in Harare in July. Batter Mahmudul Hasan Joy and fast bowler Rejaur Rahman Raja have earned their maiden call-ups to the Bangladesh Test squad for the first match against Pakistan, to be held in Chattogram.

The second Test will be held in Dhaka from December 4-8. Hosts Bangladesh have suffered a whitewash in the T20Is 3-0.
