Shab-e-Qadr, Jumatul Wida observed

The holy Lailatul Qadr or Shab-e-Qadr, was observed on Friday night. Besides, Jumatul Wida, the last Friday of the month of Ramadan, was also observed across the country with due religious solemnity and reverence. 

Shab-e-Qadr, is the holiest and most blessed night for the Muslims. On this night, the first verses of the holy Quran were revealed to Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

Muslim devotees passed the night offering special prayers, reciting the holy Quran, holding zikr and other religious rituals, seeking blessings of the Almighty Allah for long life, peace and progress for themselves, their families, relatives, friends as well as the nation and the Muslim Ummah.

Muslim devotees spent the night seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country as well as the Muslim Ummah.

According to the holy Quran, this night is superior to 1,000 nights as the Quran was revealed to the greatest Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM) in this glorified night to show mankind the path of worldly and eternal emancipation.

This is one of the holiest and most blessed nights which is likely to occur on one of the odd number nights in the last 10 days of Ramadan and most likely to be the 27th of the holy month.

Devotees, on the nights, usually visit graveyards to seek eternal blessings for the departed souls of their near and dear ones.

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted the countrymen and the Muslim Ummah across the world on the occasion of the Shab-e-Qadr.

Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private TV channels and radio stations aired special programmes, while newspapers published articles highlighting the significance of the night.

For Muslims, the entire month of Ramadan is a period of spiritual training. Besides fasting, they devote themselves to praying, reciting the holy Quran and offering charity.

On the other hand, Jumatul Wida has a special importance as it is a prelude to the departure of the holy month for the Muslims.

On this day, thousands of Muslim devotees usually attend the jummah prayers at different mosques, seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of Bangladesh and unity of the Muslim Ummah.

The day's biggest congregation will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital. Khateebs and ulema will deliver sermons, highlighting the significance of Jumatul Wida.

Special arrangements have been made to accommodate the devotees at mosques in different parts of the city.
