Senior Rangpur journo Manik no more

A senior journalist of Rangpur Manik Sarker Manik is no more.

 He breathed last while undergoing treatment for kidney failure at Rangpur Medical College Hospital today at 6:30 am. He was 56.

Manik, a Member of Rangpur Press Club, left behind a son, his wife and a host of relatives, admirers and well-wishers to mourn his death.

Rangpur Press Club President Mahabub Rahman Habu said the body of Manik will be kept at Rangpur Press Club premises from 2 pm for paying tributes by local journalists and people from all walks of life.

Later, his body will be buried at the Dakhiganj Graveyard in the city at 3 pm today.

Rangpur Press Club, Rangpur City Press Club, Press Club, Rangpur Reporters’ Club, Rangpur Reporters’ Unity, Rangpur Photojournalists’ Association, Rangpur Chhara Sangsad and many other professional and sociocultural organizations have expressed condolences on the expiry of Manik Sarker.

Manik was Rangpur district correspondent of the now-defunct Dainik Rupali, former Staff Reporter of the Dainik Janakantha and Kaler Kantha and former Rangpur Bureau Chief of Samoy Television.

He was a former Joint Secretary of Rangpur Press Club, Joint Secretary of Rangpur district unit of Ghatok Dalal Nirmul Committee, member of Sommilito Sangskritik Jyote and was associated with a number of literary and cultural organizations.
