Sartaj earns Sword of Honour, Ashraful wins Army Chief Gold Medal

Five Palestinian, one Sri Lankan officer commissioned

Despite global Covid-19 pandemic, five Palestinian officers were commissioned at  the 80th BMA Long Term Course of Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) which  was held at BMA Parade Ground at Bhatiari in Chattogram on Thursday, said ISPR.

One Sri Lankan officer was also commissioned on the same day. The President's parade was held on the occasion of receiving the commission of the officer cadets.  Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed visited the parade as the chief guest. He later distributed prizes among the meritorious cadets.

A total of 161 officer cadets of the 80th BMA long-term course received commissions through this parade after a long three years of rigorous military training.

Among the commissioned officers in the Bangladesh Army, there are 152 male and 13 female officers.

Among other commissioned officers, five are Palestinian and one is Sri Lankan who will join their respective armies after leaving Bangladesh. 

For excellence in all subjects, Battalion Senior Under Officer SartajMahbub was considered the best smart cadet in the 80th BMA long-term course and earned the Sword of Honour. Besides, the company's senior under officer Md. Ashraful Alam won the 'Army Chief Gold Medal' for excellence in military matters.

 The cadets then took the formal oath and their parents and guardians decorate them with the rank-badges.

When the chief guest arrived at the BMA parade ground, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Army Training and Doctrine Command, Commandant of the BMA and GOC of 24 Infantry Division and Area Commander of Chittagong Area, welcomed him.

The colorful parade was witnessed by high-ranking military and civilian officials and parents and guardians of the newly commissioned officers.
