Bangladesh prospective all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has been suffering back pain and with the World Cup approaching fast, the incurring injury threatens to dismantle team combination.

Reports said the 22-year old all-rounder will be rested in the Tri-series clash against Windies on Monday as the selectors are not willing to take any risks.

“Mohammad Saifuddin is having some kind of pain in the back and we don’t want to take any risk with him and so we are considering him to make his debut against West Indies,” Bangladesh Cricket Board chief selector Minhajul Abedin said.

Mohammad Saifuddin's back issue has Bangladesh's think-tank sweating with the World Cup fast approaching. The all-rounder will be rested in the tri-series clash against West Indies with Abu Jayed to make his debut on Monday (May 13), as a result.

Saifuddin spent most of his time with the physio on the eve of the game while Jayed worked with bowling coach Courtney Walsh.

This opportunity comes as a much-needed chance for Jayed as the selectors are also looking at including Taskin Ahmed in the World Cup squad in place of the pacer. BCB president Nazmul Hasan, however, stressed the decision won't be taken without giving Jayed a chance to prove himself. "It would be unfair to change Jayed without giving enough opportunities," he said a couple of days ago.

Fast bowling all-rounder, Mohammad Saifuddin’s back problem has given Bangladesh’s selectors a critical problem as the World Cup is approaching really fast.

The all-rounder will be rested; so, in the tri-series match against Windies, Abu Jayed is set to make his debut on Monday (May 13), as a result. Mohd Saifuddin had to spend most of his game time with the physio on the evening of the game. Therefore, Abu Jayed worked with bowling coach Courtney Walsh.

There is already another injury to Bangladeshi fast bowler. Taskin Ahmad also missed his place to the World Cup squad because of an injury. He had a chance though to redeem and prove himself. He was selected for the tri-series in Ireland. With the world cup fast coming, the selectors will really hope to find some solutions soon.

Before starting their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 2, Bangladesh will play warm-up matches against Pakistan and India on May 26 and May 28 respectively.
