Holders Bashundhara Kings extended their tally to remain on top of the table defeating Rahmatganj by 2-0 in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League football on Tuesday.
Held at the Bir Sreshtha Lt. Matiur Rahman Stadium Munshiganj, one goal each from the Brazilain duo Meguel and Robson Robinho in a span of two minutes in the first half steered the league leaders to earn their 13th win out of 16 matches.
After the 16th round Bashundhara Kings amassed 41 points from 13 wins and two draws when the reigning champions suffered one defeat.
However, Bashundhara, despite had better control in the match but besides two goals in the first half could not add any more despite having 10-man Rahmatganj.
The Old Dahka outfit were reduced to 10 men when their goalkeeper Zia saw red card after handling the ball at outside the area. Meguel curled his spot kick to beat substitute custodian Tushar on 38th minute (1-0).
After taking the lead Bashundhara Kings kept their pressure on 10-man Rahmatganj, as Golam Zilani boys were forced to went on defensive strategy and Robinho powerded a low shot to increase the lead to 2-0 on 39th Minute.
In the day’s other match of the league at the Bashundhara Sports Complex, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra stunned Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by 3-1.
Russel, who were just struiuggling up to midway of the league, so far had their big win in the ongoing league.
After winning the match Russel lift their position on the point table to eight after obtaining 18 points from four wins and six draws.
Sheikh Jamal, who were fighting to claim at least for the second position with 30 points from 15 matches, suffered the defeat to remain on third position.
Hemanta Vincent, Charlse Dedier and mannaf Rabbi scored one goal each for Russel when Otabek reduced pone for Jamal.
