It is quite interesting to find country boats plying in a small canal right beside a city residential area located near Rampura. The rise of flood water in many places in the low-lying areas in the city has made country boats an essential part of life. As a bamboo bridge is under construction to connect the two sides, some boatmen are taking the opportunity to earn some quick bucks by charging Tk 2 to ferry people from the other side of the canal. But no doubt people are happy as these boats have come to make their journey to and from work much easy. And they all can afford the small amount of money being charged. One can imagine what suffering the commuters would have faced if the boats were not there. Dhaka city has many such wonders to offer where one can find such contradictions. But life goes on in this busy metropolis despite them.
