Two bus passengers including a woman were killed and five others injured in a train-bus collision in Gazipur’s Kaliakair upazila early on Saturday, reports BSS.
Police identified the deceased as Masud Rana, 35 and Rahima Akter, 40. After the accident, locals whisked the injured people off to Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex.
Director of NilsagarTrain Mostafizur Rahman said the accident took place at about 4:30am when the Dhaka-bound Nilsagar train from Chilahati hit the bus, leaving one dead on the spot.
The train driver tried to stop the vehicle in an emergency way, but the bus overturned.
Officer in charge of Kaliakair Police Station said the passengers of the train were unhurt, adding that the train communication on the route remained suspended after the incident.
However, the train communication was resorted around 8.30 am after removing the bus from the rail tract.
