Bangladesh will play their upcoming home series against Zimbabwe in February instead of March, according to an official statement from the Bangladesh Cricket Board. According to Future Tours Program, Bangladesh was scheduled to host Zimbabwe for a series comprising one Test and five T20Is in March.

However, the BCB have now decided that they will host Zimbabwe earlier than scheduled. Furthermore, they insisted that the change in the schedule is unrelated to the Pakistan tour. “Zimbabwe will be coming in February,” BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told Cricbuzz on Monday. “But certainly not related to the Pakistan tour.”

Cricbuzz understands that BCB has preponed the tour to February on account of hosting the Twenty20 series between Asia XI and World XI, marking the birth centenary of Bangladesh’s first president, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

According to BCB officials, they were asked by the government to organize the Asia XI matches between March 18 and 22. As for the bilateral series, Zimbabwe is expected to arrive in the third week of February.
