Allegation of bribe over recruitment of teacher at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia was brought again.
An audio clip between two teachers a candidate over recruitment of a lecturer at Finance and Banking department of the university was leaked and went viral on social media on Friday.
The audio clip was disclosed with the headline ‘Audio clip on teachers recruitment business leaked again at IU, agreement Tk 18 lakhs , advanced 10’ by a Bengali national daily.
According to the leaked clip, a conversation found between the candidate and the teachers where the teachers were heard asking Tk 10 lakhs advanced for appointing the candidate as a lecturer.
The alleged teachers were identified as Ruhul Amin, Assistant Professor of Finance and Banking department, and Abdur Rahim, Assistant Professor of Electronics and Electrical Engineering department.
Candidate Arif Hasan was trying to manage taka quickly before recruitment by taking loan from bank and selling land to get the job as lecturer while accused teacher Rahim was pressuring him by saying that he has to handle a gang who involved with the scam where candidate talked about Prof Dr M Mahbubar Rahman of EEE department.
The university authorities postponed the teachers’ recruitment board of the department after publishing the news and suspended the alleged teachers, said IU registrar S M Abdul Latif.
Besides, IU Teachers Association demanded immediate and exemplary punishment of the accused teachers.
When contracted, IU vice chancellor Prof Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari said the university authorities terminated the suspected teachers temporarily as primary step. They will take strong action against them, after finding results from high powerful probe body, he added.
Last year several audio clips containing conversations between several candidates and the two teachers for appointing one of them at History and Culture Department went viral on the social media on July 15 in 2018 where the alleged teachers from English and Bangla department were demoted to Associate and Assistant professor from Professor and Associate Professor respectfully.
Mentionable, On April 2 in 2017, the university authorities suspended Ruhul Amin from all academic and administrative activities over the leak of an audio clip in which a voice of Ruhul Amin was heard talking about managing some candidates for recruiting them as teachers in different departments in exchanging of money amounting to Tk 12-15 lakh.
