RCC implementing time-befitting infrastructural dev schemes

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has been implementing different types of infrastructural development works aimed at making the city more clean, green as well as habitable one.

 The uplift works are being implemented under the Taka 2,993-crore project titled ‘Integrated Urban Infrastructure Development in Rajshahi City’ throughout the city at present.

RCC Mayor and Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League AHM Khairuzzaman Liton revealed this while inspecting the widening works of drain and road from Chodypaya Fire Centre Crossing to Mijan crossing on Sunday evening. The potential road and drain are being widened for the public interests.

Mayor Liton said the city has got a new look amid massive infrastructural development works during the last four years making both inside and outstanding people happy. Broaden streets, cleaned atmosphere, road dividers with green trees and plants and crafts, improved civic amenities and eye-catching street lighting at night have made the city attractive enormously.

 He also said they will construct five more flyovers with the main thrust of overall development of the metropolis through freeing it from traffic congestion. In addition to the flyovers, various development works are being implemented under the project scheduled to be completed by June, 2024.

 A total of ten foot-over bridges will also be constructed. Liton said Sheikh Russel Shishu Park is being established in Chhotobangram area at a cost of around Taka 4.43 crore.

HE upon asking, said that the Rajshahi city will get a new look upon successful implementation of the mega project.

“We are working relentlessly to make the city green and habitable,” he said, adding that they have adopted three more uplift projects amounting to Taka 2,705.08 crore for infrastructural development.

Burial plaque of Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman, one of the four national leaders, will be built in the Kadirganj area in the city for facilitating the scopes to know about the life, works and devotion of the national leader.

Liton said they have planned to conserve 22 natural water bodies under a project titled “Natural Water Bodies Conservation and Development in Rajshahi City” to retain its surface water resources for protecting the environment from further degradation.

“We have also adopted a project styled “Modernization of Rajshahi city’s Waste Management” involving around Taka 1,465.18 crore,” Liton said.

The scheme has provisions of waste collection and removal in modern ways, construction of wastewater treatment plant, fecal sludge treatment and recycling plant.

Liton urged all the engineers and others concerned to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for successful implementation of all the development projects so that the city dwellers can derive total benefits of those.
