RC to get 10 storied Bangabandhu academic building

The foundation stone of a TK 12.29 crore ten- storied Bangabandhu Academic Building of Rajshahi College, was formally laid on Tuesday.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton laid the foundation stone of the ‘Bangabandhu Academic Building’ as chief guest at a function held at campus premises, reports BSS.

Education Engineering Department (EED) is going to construct the first ever-high rise building among all educational institutions in the entire northwest region of the country and construction works are expected to complete within the next two years. Principal of the college Prof Habibur Rahman and its Vice Principal Prof Abdul Khaleque and departmental heads of the college were present on the occasion.

Prof Habibur Rahman told the inaugural function that Rajshahi College has been adjudged as the country’s best educational institution for the fourth consecutive years for its outstanding performance in the academic arena since 2016. The Ministry of Education in the National Education Week-2019 Competition held last June has ranked the college as the country’s best institution.

Professor Rahman said every year the education ministry brings all the colleges throughout the country under ranking in terms of its 19 indicators including number of students and their results, number of the highest degree- holding teachers, college environment, water and sanitation.

National University also declared the college as the country’s best one based on its ranking. It is said to be the third oldest institutions of higher education in Bangladesh after Dhaka College and Chittagong College. Established in 1873 and within a short period after its establishment, the college became one of the main centres of higher education for the inhabitants of East Bengal, North Bengal, Bihar and Assam.
