Rains may continue across the country including Dhaka till tomorrow (September 25). Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers along with temporary gusty wind in all eight divisions of the country.
The BMD made the forecast in its regular bulletin issued on Saturday (September 23).
According to the Met office bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions and at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.
The low pressure area over Bihar and adjoining area weakened and merged with the monsoon axis.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
Monsoon is active over the northern part and fairly active elsewhere over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
However, the Met office bulletin predicted that the day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged across the country.
Country’s maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 33.7degrees Celsius at Mongla, while Saturday’s minimum temperature was 23.8 degrees Celsius at Sayedpur and Bandarban.
The highest rainfall in the 24 hours till 6:00 am on Saturday was recorded 161 mm at Dimla.
