Railways minister off to China

Railways minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan left Dhaka on Wednesday night for China on an invitation from the authority of the China’s state-owned China Railway, said a press release. The railways minister is leading an eight-member delegation that includes members of the parliamentary standing committee on railways Md Saifuzzaman, Nadira Jolly and senior officials of Bangladesh Railway.

The delegation is scheduled to visit several sites including South Railway Station at Beijing, CRRC Rolling Stock Workshop, Fengtai Railway Station, Beijing Electric Multiple Unit Depot and Train Operational Control. In Beijing, the delegation will also hold meeting with officials of China Transport ministry. The delegation would also visit the workshop of China Railway Engineering Corporation, the appointed construction firm of Padma Rail Link, and meet its officials.
From Beijing, the delegation will go to Shanghai and visit the site of Shanghai Metro Construction and also to attend a number of programmes.

During the visit, the minister will hold meeting with officials concerned to discuss ongoing railway projects in Bangladesh. Besides, the delegation will exchange their experience about rail management, ticketing system, catering and other issues of China. The delegation is scheduled to return on September 2.
