‘Rabindra-Nazrul-Sukanta Jayanti’ held at Nat’l Museum

To mark the birth anniversary of three great poets of Bengali literature, Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam and Sukanta Bhattacharya, Wrishijo Shilpi Gosthi arranged a celebration programme yesterday. With the title ‘Rabindra-Nazrul-Sukanta Jayanti’, the programme was held at 5:30pm at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in the capital.

Presided over by Wrishijo Shilpi Gosthi president Fakir Alamgir, vice-chancellor of Rabindra University Professor Bishwajit Ghosh attended the programme as chief guest, while Jahangirnagar University’s Drama and Dramatics department Professor Afsar Ahmed, Rabindra Sangeet singer Tapan Mahmud, Nazrul Sangeet singer Ferdous Ara and Rabindra Sangeet singer Rokeya Hasina Nili attended the programme as the discussants.

After the discussion, a cultural show was held, where the artistes of Altaf Mahmud Sangeet Bidyaniketan, Anandan, Samaswar, Ponchabhaskar and Wrishijo Shilpi Gosthi performed.

In the solo part, singer Tapan Mahmud, Ferdous Ara, Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, Samar Barua and Biman Chandra Biswas rendered songs. Besides, Iqbal Khorshed, Rafiqul Islam, Faizul Alam Pappu and Ananya Laboni Putul recited poems at the event.
