152 home-bound passengers of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from the United Kingdom have cancelled their flight-tickets because they did not agree to bear the cost of a 14-day quarantine including the hotel rent after landing here. As a result, only 48 passengers arrived at Sylhet Osmani Airport direct from London on January-4 ( Monday). The government of Bangladesh has issued the directives to check the spread of the new-type of Coronavirus strain from the United Kingdom.

Shahnewaz Majumder, Manager of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Sylhet office informed,' More than 200 passengers procured tickets for Sylhet in Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight scheduled to arrive on Monday but 152 of those passengers cancelled their tickets because they are required a 14-day quarantine on arrival at their own cost. As a result, the Sylhet bound flight arrived with 48-passengers only.'

Assistant Commissioner ( Covid-19 and Media Cell) of Sylhet Shamma Labiba Arnob informed many of UK migrants have lost their interest to return the country after the instruction of an institutional quarantine at own cost was imposed on them. He further mentioned the passengers will be carried directly from the airport to the hotels through government buses and a round the clock security will be arranged in front of those hotels so that the passengers fail to go outside the hotel and their relatives cannot enter there.
