Proposal placed to set up Gandhi-Mujib Institution

To pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi, known worldwide as the Father of India, and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, and to preserve the memory of their working lives, a proposal was placed to set up a Gandhi-Mujib Institution of Technology in Dohar Upazila of Dhaka.

Salman F Rahman, MP from Dhaka-1 constituency and Adviser to the Prime Minister, placed the proposal. 

Riva Ganguly Das, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, visited the 'Gandhiji Ashram' in the Malikanda-Madhurchar area of Narisha Union in Dhaka's Dohar Upazila on Wednesday afternoon. At the time, Dohar Upazila Parishad Chairman Alamgir Hossain proposed to her to set up a Gandhi-Mujib Institution of Technology on behalf of Salman F Rahman.

The Chairman also handed over a plan file of the proposed Gandhi-Mujib Institution of Technology to the Indian High Commissioner there. In the plan, the cost of building the Institute on 80 acres of land has been estimated at around Tk 250 crore. Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter to media.

Accompanied by the Indian High Commissioner, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed and Senior Secretary for Public Security Division under Ministry of Home Affairs Mostafa Kamal also visited the 'Gandhiji Ashram' at the time.
