The railway probe body has submitted its report holding gateman Saddam Hossain and microbus driver Golam Mosfata responsible for the collision that occurred between a train and a microbus at Khayachra level crossing of Mirsarai in July this year.

Officials at the railway ministry have confirmed this to media.

According to them, “Two persons have been held responsible for the accident in the report of the inquiry committee headed by Divisional Transport Officer of Railway Eastern Zone Ansar Ali. Gateman Saddam has already been temporarily dismissed in this incident. Now further action will be taken against him.”

It is to be noted that microbus driver Golam Mustafa died in that accident. According to sources, the report mentions that gateman Saddam was not present at the time of the incident. The inquiry committee submitted the five-page report to Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Muhammad Abul Kalam Chowdhury on Tuesday.

On July 29, 13 people travelling in a microbus were killed when the microbus was hit by a train in Mirsarai area of Chattogram. The police arrested gateman Saddam that evening. Later, a case was registered against him.

Since then Saddam has been in prison in this case. After the incident, a 5-member inquiry committee headed by Ansar Ali, Divisional Transport Officer, Railway Eastern Zone, was formed.
