Priority to gas exploration, extraction process to continue

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that priority will be continued in the natural gas exploration and extraction process.

The State Minister made the remark while speaking as the chief guest at a signing ceremony to drill 10th well exploration in Sylhet district on Sunday. 

He said Gas exploration and extraction work must be increased with realistic projects and all the projects must be implemented before the scheduled time.

Nasrul Hamid also said that the gas whatever produce from walkover or exploration wells will contribute immensely to national development.

The agreement was signed between state-owned Sylhet Gas Fields Limited and Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation of China to drill exploration well number 10 in Sylhet gas field. 

Official hopes that around 10 million cubic feet of gas per day will be produced from the well once completed the job. The project will be implemented with the own financing of Sylhet Gas Fields Limited and Gas Development Fund. 

For this, all land development and construction works, supply of excavation materials, third party engineering services and well drilling will be performed on a turn-key basis

According to the agreement, Sinopec International Petroleum Service Corporation will be performed all works including land development and construction, supply of excavation materials with drilling on a turn-key basis. 

Among others SM Zakir Hossain, Additional Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Nazmul Ahsan of Petrobangla Chairman, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman of Sylhet Gas Fields Ltd Managing Director were joint at the event.
