Prices of most grocery items go up again

Chicken, onion cost less

The price of rice and egg has increased while the price of chicken and onion has come down in the market compared to last week. 

The situation has been observed after visiting a number of kitchen markets in the capital on Friday.

The price of chicken has come down in the market. Broiler chickens are being sold at Tk 170-175 per kg which was being sold at Tk 175-180 last week. Sonali chicken is being sold at Tk 260 with a reduction of Tk 10 per kg. Last week, the price of golden category chicken was Tk 270 per kg. Layer chicken is being sold at Tk 230 per kg as before.

Local onions are being sold at Tk 40 per kg. Indian onions are being sold at Tk 50 per kg. Last week, onions were being sold at Tk 45-50 per kg.

Meanwhile, prices of rice have gone up in the markets again. The price of Nazirshail quality rice has increased by Tk 1 per kg and is being sold at Tk 71 per kg. The price of Miniket quality rice has also increased by Tk 1 per kg and is being sold at Tk 64-65. Atash quality rice is being sold at Tk 52 to 53.

The price of eggs has increased in the market. A dozen of red quality eggs are being sold at Tk 110-115. A dozen of duck eggs are being sold at Tk 180. Dozens of Sonali chicken eggs are being sold at Tk 165.

Prices of most vegetables in the market have remained unchanged throughout the week. 

Per kg tomato is being sold at Tk 40-80, yardlong bean at Tk 50-70, beans at Tk 40-60, brinjal at Tk 40-80, bitter gourd at Tk 80, carrot at Tk 40, pumpkin at Tk 40, radish at Tk 30-40 and snake gourd at Tk 50.  

A large size cauliflower and cabbage is being sold at Tk 40 per piece, and gourd at Tk 50.  

New and old potatoes are being sold at Tk 15-20 per kg in markets. Green chilies are being sold at Tk 60-80 per kg. 

Green bananas are being sold at Tk 40 per four pieces, per kg papaya at Tk 30-40 and cucumber at Tk 80 and per four pieces of lemon is being sold at Tk 20.

Dried chilies are being sold at Tk 150 to Tk 250 per kg, garlic at Tk 80-130, ginger at Tk 140 and turmeric at Tk 160 to Tk 220 per kg. Besides, Indian lentils are being sold at Tk 90-95 per kg and local lentils at Tk 110-115 per kg. 

At the retail level edible oil is being sold at Tk 160 per liter. Sugar is being sold at Tk 80 per kg. Besides, packets of sugar are being sold at Tk 85 per kg.
