Prachyanat’s ‘Dewan Gazir Kissa’ at BSA today

Popular theatre school Prachyanat School of Acting and Design is going to stage the play ‘Dewan Gazir Kissa’ today at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy’s (BSA) National Theatre Hall at 6:00pm.

The production has been organized as the certificate giving ceremony of the 37th batch of the school. The students of the batch are staging the play as their concluding performance.

Asaduzzaman Noor adapted the play from a story by late German poet-playwright-theatre director Bertold Brecht titled ‘Herr Puntilla and his man Matti’. The production has been directed by Monirul Islam Rubel.

Actor Subhasish Bhowmik and painter Bipul Saha will be present on the occasion as special guest. Other than the staging there will also be poster exhibitions outside the auditorium on the day.

The story revolves around Dewan of Gazipur who is very rich and has a lot of land, orchards, fisheries and cattle. However, he has a dual personality, when he gets drunk he becomes very kind and selfless. He fixes the marriage of his daughter Laili with police officer Nafor Ali. But Laili doesn’t want to get married and is even ready to marry Makhon to not have to marry Nafor Ali. Thus there begins a conflict and the story continues.
