Police save youth from suicide after 999 call

Police saved a youth after getting call through ‘999’ during attempt to suicide jumping from the rooftop in Savar, on the outskirts of capital, on Tuesday. 

The youth, who wants to commit suicide, was identified as Saiful Islam, 30, son of Lalu Mia, hailed from Aldipara village of Pirganj in Rangpur. He is is a Pathao rider.

Noor Mohammad Khan, sub-inspector (SI) of Savar Model Police Station, said that they received an emergency call from ‘999’ service around 3.00pm on Tuesday that a man had prepared to commit suicide jumping from the rooftop of a six storied building at Rajashan Polu Market area in Savar. “After getting the call, we rushed to the spot speedily and found the man in such a position that a little movement may fall him down,” he added.

The SI further said that the youth blackmailed the police that if they come forward he would jump. Police then divided into two groups.

A group strategically kept his concentration and another group unlooked the roof door after breaking brick. Then police rescued him.
