Police get modern vessels to combat crimes in Sundarbans

Three modern speedboats were provided by the Inspector General of Police to Khulna, Satkhira and Bagerhat district police for eradicating criminal activities in the Sundarbans and coastal areas. 

Khulna Range DIG Dr K Mohid Uddin was present as the chief guest at a function organized to hand over the speedboats at the jail ghat area in Khulna city on Tuesday. 

Additional DIG (Admin & Finance) Md Habibur Rahman and Additional DIG (Operations and Crime) AKM Nahidul Islam were present as special guests while, Senior police officials of Khulna Range and Khulna district were also present on the occasion.

At the time, Dr K Mohid Uddin handed over the keys of the boats to Khulna Police Super SM Shafiullah, Bagerhat Police Super Pankaj Chandra Roy and Satkhira Police Super Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman.

DIG Dr K Mohid Uddin said at the event of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha 660 officers have already been given strict instructions from the police headquarters to prevent cattle skin smuggling. The police will be in a strict position to protect national resources.

He also said, police are always working to resist the pirates and bandits in the Sundarbans. Recently, various criminals have been arrested from Satkhira and Bagerhat areas. This speed boats will make the police activities in the Sundarbans area more dynamic.

He added that there are plans to set up police control camps in the Sundarbans to protect the biodiversity. Moreover, modern scientific equipment will be installed in the area through which it will be possible to control the movements of criminals in the area and arrest them.
