Police in Jhenidah detained a house wife when her minor son and daughter had drowned in the pond water on Sunday morning.
The detainee was identified as Manira Khatun, wife of Nazrul Islam of Baniakandar village in Jhenidah Sadar upazila.
Jhenidah police station officer in charge (OC) Mijanur Rahman said Manira Khatun along with her daughter Safia Khatun, 7, and son Mahi, 5, went to nearby pond for bathing purpose in the morning. Manira left the pond without her children.
Later she informed the matter to the neighbors and they started searching the duo. Later their bodies were recovered from the pond.
OC said they took the mother to Jhenidah police station for an interrogation as her attitude was confusing about the death of her two children.
They sent the bodies to Jhenidah Sadar hospital morgue for post mortem examination, the policeman said.
