PM wants to make marginalised people self-reliant: Rezaul Karim

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to make the marginalised people self-reliant.

The minister made the comment while speaking as the chief guest at a function to distribute materials among the beneficiaries of the integrated livestock development project in coastal chars being implemented by the Livestock Department of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock at the Agriculture Training Auditorium in Nazirpur Upazila of Pirojpur on Monday. The event was organised by Nazirpur Upazila Livestock Department.

At the time, the minister said, the government was providing various materials assistance through development projects to change the destiny of the people. Except Sheikh Hasina, no one has given such help in the past. She wants to make everyone self-sufficient. She wants a human being to have no misery, no poverty.

The Minister also said that the integrated livestock development project in the coastal char areas will make women self-reliant and prosperous. Materials distributed free of cost under this project will enrich the poor economically.

Nazirpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Abdullah Saadi presided over the function. Dr Md Abdus Sabur, Director, Barisal Divisional Livestock Department, Dr Tarun Kumar Sikder, District Livestock Officer, Dr SM Ziaul Haque Rahat, Project Director, Livestock Department, Humayun Kabir, Officer-in-Charge of Nazirpur Police Station, Nazirpur Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Ranju, female vice chairman Shahriar Ferdous, former commander of Pirojpur District Muktijoddha Sangsad Gautam Narayan Roy Chowdhury, local government officials and local political leaders were present on the occasion.
