PM receives Tagore Peace Award in Delhi

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has received the prestigious Tagore Peace Award-2018 in recognition of her outstanding contribution in combating terrorism and alleviation of poverty.

The award was handed over to her in the Indian capital New Delhi on Saturday. The Asiatic Society awarded the prize to Sheikh Hasina.

Indian government has introduced the award in 2012 commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Poet Rabindranath Tagore and the award is being given to persons, associations and institutions for outstanding contribution in the field of cultural harmony. 

The award is given considering the contribution of previous ten years.

Indian spiritual leader Ravi Shankar received the first Tagore Peace Award. Zubin Mehta of India got the award second time. This time Sheikh Hasina is receiving it.
