Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmad said that the Prime Minister has created a new history by gifting houses with land to the homeless on the occasion of Mujib Barsha.
The minister said this is the biggest program undertaken to provide free houses to the homeless.
Mentioning that it is unprecedented in the history of the world to provide so many people with houses including land ownership, he said, "As a part of this, 273 more families are getting houses in Gowainghat today."
The minister made the statement as the chief guest at a meeting organized at the Gowainghat Upazila Parishad auditorium in Sylhet on Sunday to mark the inauguration of the second phase of land and house distribution to landless families on the occasion of Mujib Barsha.
Gowainghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tahmilur Rahman presided over the meeting. Sylhet Deputy Commissioner M Kazi Emdadul Islam, Gowainghat Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Faruk Ahmed and Upazila Awami League President Mohammad Ibrahim also spoke during the event.
