People started benefiting from digital services: Humayun

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said that people have already started enjoying the benefits of e-commerce and other digital services in the country

He said the immense potential of the  IT sector has been opened in the country under the leadership Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

Minister was addressing the formal launching of the 'BSCIC Online Market (www.bscic-emarket.gov.bd)' for the online marketing of products of all entrepreneurs, including cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises (CMSME).

Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) organised the event at held at a hotel in the capital on Thursday.

Minister hoped that the 'BSCIC Online Market' will further accelerate the concept of a digital Bangladesh.

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder was present as the special guest at the inaugural function, presided over by BSCIC Chairman Md. Mushtaq Hasan. 

Speaking as the special guest, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder said the role of cottage, micro, small and medium industries is very important in developing the socio-economic condition of a populous country like Bangladesh. 

He said the ‘BSCIC Online Market’ will play an important role in assisting entrepreneurs in displaying and marketing their products.

State Minister, Department of Information and Communication Technology, Junaid Ahmed Palak, also speaking as the special guest said, “The progress of the development of Bangladesh during the pandemic is commendable. The government looks to meet the aspirations of the people of Bangladesh by making the best use of the latest digital technology like BSCIC Online Market”.

Industry Secretary Zakia Sultana said the BSIC online market would make the country's e-commerce industry more dynamic and strong and play an important role in the country's economic development.

Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) President Jasim Uddin said, “The BSIC Online Market inaugural event is truly a new milestone for entrepreneurs in the time of the pandemic. BSIC Online Market will usher in a new chapter in the promotion, dissemination and marketing of products produced by entrepreneurs.”

In his welcome address, the BSIC Chairman said that BSCIC has created an e-commerce platform called 'BSIC Online Market' for entrepreneurs with the technical assistance of the A2I project of the Department of Information and Communication Technology. This e-commerce platform has been created to market the products of all the entrepreneurs online, including those entrepreneurs who do not have any showroom (sales center) of their own.

State Minister, Department of Information and Communication Technology, member of the Ministry of Industries, Kazim Uddin Ahmed, Ministry of Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana and president of FBCCI Md Jasim Uddin spoke at the event.

Officials of various government and non-government organizations, leaders of business organizations, entrepreneurs, development partners, officials of various levels of BSCIC and representatives of print and electronic media were also present in the occasion.
