In an effort to minimise people’s plight amid the coronavirus crisis across the country, the government has so far provided food and financial assistance to more than 8 crore people throughout the country, reports BSS.
“Around 5 crore people of more than 1 crore families have received the government’s food aid and 3,3,38,000 individuals got cash assistance during the novel coronavirus pandemic across the country,” said an official handout on Monday.
Quoting the 64 district administrations sources, the release said 1.50 lakh tonnes of rice (GR rice) out of the total allocated 1.63 lakh tonnes, was distributed among 5,01,43,000 people of 1.14 crore families till Sunday.
Cash money totaling over Taka 91 crore has so far been allocated, of which Taka 58.93 crore has already been distributed among 68,69,000 families, it added.
Besides, the government has distributed more than Taka 14.69 crore out of Taka 19.14 crore allocated as baby food assistance.
Around 10,13,144 people of 4,62,238 families have come under the benefit of the assistance.
