A Dhaka court on Sunday set January 22 next to pass the order on whether to issue arrest warrant against three BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a case lodged for allegedly carrying out anarchy in the capital in 2018, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Habibur Rahman fixed the new date of passing order on whether arrest warrant for the three BNP leaders – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi – will be issued or not.

Earlier, on September 22 last, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Atikul Islam set the date of passing the order on December 22 as the plaintiff of the case Jananetri Parishad President AB Siddiqui pleaded for issuing arrest warrant for the three accused. According to the case statement, two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were killed as a speedy bus ran over them in front of their college on July 29, 2018. After the incident, students of different colleges and schools started agitation across the capital, which later spread across the country.

The plaintiff alleged that the accused BNP leaders directed their followers to capitalise the student movement and carry out anarchy in the name of agitation. On August 6, 2018, AB Siddiqui filed the case against the trio.
