One to die for murder in Joypurhat

A court here on Wednesday  sentenced a man to death sentence for killing a man in Khetlal upazila in 2006.

The court also sentenced the plaintiff five years jail as she had given false statement during hearing. If she is unable to pay the amount, she will serve six months jail in more.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Abbas Uddin handed down the verdict to Shahin, hailed from Mahabbotpur village in Khetlal upazila.

According to the prosecution on May 20 in 2006 convict Shahin strangled Alam Kha to death at Mohabbotpur village over money. Following the murder, Alam Kha's wife filed a case accusing seven people with a Joypurhat court. According to the order of the court a case filed with Khetlal Thana on November 12 in 2006. Police pressed the charge sheet on April 4 in 2007 accusing seven people.

The court acquitted six in the verdict. The court of Mohammad Abbas Uddin also fined convict Shahin Tk 50000.
