To coincide with its world premiere at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival, Sony Pictures has released a new, full-length trailer for the ninth film by Quentin Tarantino, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in lead roles as a has-been star and his stunt double, respectively, the film is slated for a July release.
In true Tarantino fashion, the trailer teases a film that is filled with whip-smart dialogue, loud violence and a bunch of film references. At one point, Al Pacino’s character mimes firing a gun, which brings to mind his iconic Scarface gunfight. Another sequence - which seems to be a film within a film - apparently references Tarantino’s own Inglourious Basterds.
Set in 1969 Hollywood, the film is said to be structured in the fashion of Pulp Fiction, with numerous intersecting storylines, including that of actor Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), who was murdered by members of the Charles Manson ‘family’.
Several of the most famous stars of the era, including Bruce Lee, will be featured in the film.
