OIC Secy-General lauds Bangladesh’s unwavering support to IUT dev

Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General and IUT Chancellor Hisse in Brahim Taha has appreciated Bangladesh’s “unwavering support” to the development of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT).

The 49th session of the Governing Board of the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) convened on Monday in Dhaka, marking a significant milestone in the institution's pursuit of academic excellence.

The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Minister for International Cooperation in the Ministry of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Dr Saleh Bin Brahim Al Qasoumi.

At the outset of the meeting, Assistant Secretary General for Science and Technology Ambassador AskarMussinov expressed, on behalf of OIC 

Secretary-General and IUT Chancellor HisseinBrahimTaha, heartfelt gratitude to the government of Bangladesh for its unwavering support and commitment to the development and progress of the IUT.

He affirmed that the continuous collaboration between Bangladesh and the university has played a pivotal role in elevating the standard of education and fostering innovation within the institution.

He recalled the meeting held on May 28 in Dhaka between Prime Minister Sheikh Hassina and OIC Secretary General who highly appreciated the support of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the IUT and especially for girl’s education.

The session witnessed the exchange of insightful recommendations aimed at further enhancing the university's capabilities.

The representatives from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Pakistan, Guinea, Bangladesh and the OIC emphasised the importance of continuous improvements in infrastructure, faculty development, and research initiatives to elevate the university's global standing and international rankings.

The board also discussed the significance of strengthening partnerships with international academic institutions and fostering greater collaboration among the OIC Member States.

The 49th session also announced that the convocation ceremony of the Islamic University of Technology will take place on May 30.

A total of 550 graduates will be awarded their degrees in the convocation this year, which will be presided over by the OIC Secretary General who will welcome the Prime Minister of Bangladesh as the chief guest of the ceremony, according to OIC Secretariat.

The session concluded with a renewed commitment to advancing the Islamic University of Technology's mission of promoting higher education, scientific research, and technological innovation and offering opportunities to the students from the OIC member States.
