Seven police personnel, including officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das and Inspector Liakat Ali, have been suspended in connection with the killing of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar district.
Police headquarters AIG Sohail Rana and Cox's Bazar SP ABM Masud Hossain, confirmed the information.
The others, who were suspended from the force are - Sub-inspector Nandalal Rakkhit, Constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, Abdullah Al Mamun and Assistant Sub-Inspectors Liton Mia.
Earlier on July 31 night, at around 9:30pm, Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was killed in police firing in Cox's Bazar Marine Drive. The government formed a probe committee to investigate the death of the former army major the next day.
On Wednesday, Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahria Ferdous filed a case at the Judicial Magistrate court against nine policemen.
OC Pradeep, Inspector Liakat and SI Nandadulal Rakshit were placed on a seven-day remand while the rest were sent to jail by a court on Thursday.
