Socio-cultural and political personalities at a discussion have called for nurturing healthier Bengali culture to entertain common people along with eliminating social curses like militancy and terrorism, reports BSS. They made the observation tonight at a discussion arranged in celebration of the 9th founding anniversary of the socio-cultural organisation ‘Uttaron’ in front of its office on Public Library ground premises in Rangpur city.
The organisation chalked out day-long programs including bringing out of a huge colourful rally with band party, gathering of socio-cultural personalities, recitation of poems, rendering of songs, discussion and colourful cultural evening. Founding President of ‘Uttaron’ and cultural activist Shahidur Islam Hira inaugurated the celebration with hoisting of the national and organisational flags amid singing of the National Anthem by artists and members of the organisation. General Secretary of district Awami League (AL) and Adviser of ‘Uttaron’ Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju as the chief guest addressed the discussion moderated by General Secretary of the organisation Kamruzzaman Shahin. President of city AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi, Rangpur divisional Organising Secretary of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Razzaque Murad and President of ‘Rangpur Nattya Chakra’ Abdul Mazid Hiru addressed as special guests.
The speakers said the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has fruitfully flourished Bengali culture and acquainted Bangladesh in the international arena as a country of freethinking, freedom and progressive culture.
The chief guest discussed enormous cultural deeds of many brilliant sons of this soil in enriching Bengali culture as well as inspiring the freedom-loving Bengali Nation in snatching away impendence through winning the War of Liberation. He called upon socio-cultural personalities for their continuous innovative contribution to further enrich Bengali culture and heritage to entertain common people and build a non- communal, peaceful and developed society free from terrorism and militancy.
Later, the colourful programs performed in the cultural evening enthralled hundreds of people of all ages on the same venue.
