None including BNP men to be spared from anti-corruption drives: Hasan

Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud on Wednesday said the government has all information about the leaders of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) those are involved in corruptions and misdeed and concerned agencies are working on these issues. “Actions will be taken against all corrupt persons including BNP men and none will be spared from the on-going anti-corruption drive,” the minister said replying to the questions of the journalists after addressing a Best Tax Payers Honourary Award giving ceremony yesterday. Chattogram Taxation Zone organized the function at GEC Convention Hall in the city.

Dr Hasan said BNP always looks for political issues against the government aimed at creating political chaos and they are also doing politics centering the recent train accident occurred at Brahmanbaria without any reasons. A number of probe committees have been formed in this regard and they are investigating the cause of the fatal accident, he added.

Replaying to another question the minister said corrupt men within Awami League and its associate bodies have been expelled recently and a list of other corrupts and intruders in the party have been prepared which is under scrutiny for final actions against them. “During the regime of Khaleda Zia, government was certified as champion in corruption for the five consecutive times and the countrymen know the corruptions of Tareque Rahman and his younger brother,” he added.

Abul Kalam Azad, commissioner of Chattogram TaxationZone-2 presided over the function while Mohammad Enamul Hoque , commissioner Customs, Excise & VAT, and Mahbubul Alam, president of Chtattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industries graced the occasion as special guests.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud thanked the tax payers to help facilitate the economic progress of the country. He wished the areas of tax payers will be increased in the coming days. The Information Minister also hoped that if the tax payers cooperate with the government by paying taxes, the country will achieve the SDG in stipulated times and the ultimate goals of Developed of the country by 2041.

He also urged to organize the tax fair in every upazila of the country aimed at awaking the people about the significance of the tax payment to government exchequer.
