Meherpur district administration's investigation committee has submitted an investigation report regarding the seizure of rice at two godown in Chuadanga.

It was mentioned in that report, that there was no irregularity in the sale of government rice in Gangni.

Last Thursday, a three-member inquiry committee headed by Meherpur Additional Deputy Commissioner Taufiqur Rahman submitted the 44-page investigation report to the Meherpur Deputy Commissioner that, the DC released on Monday afternoon.

In the investigation report two issues were recommended. The first was the lack of awareness of project presidents to inform project committee members and local beneficiaries in project implementation which created suspicion in the  minds of the people. In addition, according to the existing policy, there is an opportunity to cash in by selling 60 percent of the allotted rice.

Second, it has been recommended that instructions be given to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and the Upazila Project Implementation Officer so that the projects are implemented properly and no irregularities occur.

Chuadanga Deputy Commissioner Nazrul Islam Sarkar said no irregularities were found in the sale of 37 tones (1,266 sacks) of rice. Rice will be explained to the rice owners.

It may be mentioned that a few days ago, the Chuadanga Sadar Upazila administration sealed two godown of Satgari in Chuadanga town with 37 tons (1266 sacks) of rice. Chuadanga and Meherpur district administrations formed two separate committees to investigate the incident. The committee was asked to report within 3 working days.
