No death, 28 new Covid cases in 24hrs

Bangladesh reported 28 fresh Covid-19 cases and no death from the virus in the last 24 hours till 8am Thursday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The positivity rate was recorded at 0.65 percent on Thursday after testing 4,326 samples across the country.

The official tally showed that the virus killed 29,130 people and infected 19,53,356 so far, the statement added.

The recovery count rose to 19,01,795 after another 195 patients were discharged from the dedicated hospitals during the past one day.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 97.36 percent Covid-19 patients were recovered among the infected people while 1.49 percent died, the DGHS statistics showed.

Among the 29,130 fatalities, 12,798 occurred in Dhaka division, 5,863 in Chattogram, 2,142 in Rajshahi, 3,718 in Khulna, 982 in Barishal, 1,328 in Sylhet, 1,417 in Rangpur and 880 in Mymensingh divisions.

Bangladesh reported its first Covid-19 case on March 8 in 2020 and the maiden death on 18th March of the same year.
