Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday said government will make no compromise with godfathers and corrupt people, reports BSS.

‘No compromise will be made with godfathers and corrupt people…no one will be spared even if the party men were found involved in those crimes,’ said the minister while addressing a press conference at his ministry’s conference room in the capital. The drive will continue against the perpetrators of corruption and crimes, said the minister, adding that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also given instruction to continue the drive before leaving for New York.

‘We have to demolish the circle of the miscreants and that’s why the drive will continue as long it is needed,’ the ruling party leader also announced. Most of the alleged people have taken resort to underground after the recent drives against the casinos, the minister said whoever the criminals are, none will be spared, expressing the government’s determination to continue drives to uproot these unethical activities like corruption, drug trafficking, terrorism and crimes.

Criticizing the activities of the BNP, the ruling party leader said if the BNP plays positive role in politics, they should congratulate the government for operating such drives by the law enforcement agencies. ‘BNP has no courage to apprehend those who were involved in corruptions because of ‘Hawa Bhaban, Khowab Bhaban’ during their regime. BNP are showing sign of envy as the popularity of the government has risen due to the drives against corruption,’ he added.

Replying to a query on whether the government will investigate the allegation that GK Shamim gave bribes to get those big public work orders, Quader said, ‘You [newsmen] please help us to find out those who were involved in such deals.’ The drive is going on in the district level too.
