Nigeria highly appreciates Sheikh Hasina’s leadership

Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has highly appreciated the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and expressed interest to expand bilateral relations between the two countries. The Nigerian Vice President said this while High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria Md Shameem Ahsan, ndc, paid a courtesy call on the Nigerian dignitary at his office in the State House, Abuja, on Friday.

During the visit, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh congratulated Yemi Osinbajo for his re-election as the Vice President of Nigeria, said an official press release reached here on Saturday. Shameem Ahsan also briefed the Nigerian Vice President about the impressive achievements Bangladesh made in all sectors under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He also briefed Yemi Osinbajo on the manifold challenges Bangladesh has been facing due to the influx of 1.1 million Rohingya refugees here. He drew the attention of the Vice President about opening of a resident Nigerian Mission in Dhaka.During the meeting, both sides noted that there are huge potentials to expand bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and underlined exchange of high level visits.

The both sides stressed on sharing of best practices for the mutual benefit of the people of the two countries which share commonalities in many respects.At the end of the meeting, Bangladesh High Commissioner handed over a copy of a book ‘The Unfinished MEMOIRS’ written by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the Nigerian Vice President.

Ambassador Mustapha Lawal Sulaiman, Foreign Secretary of Nigeria and Mr. Mohammad Shah Ekramul Hoque, Head of Chancery, Bangladesh High Commission were present during the meeting, among others.
