New list of 50k Rohingyas handed over to Myanmar

The Bangladesh recently handed over a new list of 50,506 Rohingyas to Myanmar to accelerate repatriation of the ill-fated people of the community. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen disclosed the information while talking to reporters at his Secretariat office in the capital on Tuesday.

With this new 50,506 names, Bangladesh government so far handed over the details of a total of 106,018 Rohingyas – who were forcibly displaced from North Rakhine – to the Myanmar government. Earlier, a list of 8,032 Rohingyas were handed over to Myanmar in February last year. After that another two lists of 22,432 and 25,048 Rohingyas were handed over respectively in October last year and on July 30 this year.

It should be mentioned that in face of a bloody army crackdown in 2017, over 11 million Rohingyas took shelter in Bangladesh after being displaced from Myanmar.
