He further said, “A change of leadership is coming through the conferences as we want to advance our party creating a team of leadership mixing experience with youthfulness.”

Meanwhile, the AL central office at Bangabandhu Avenue is buzzing with the presence of leaders and activists of different associate bodies of the party every day. After the announcement of the conference date, the grassroots activists of four associate bodies of Awami League – Awami Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League, Krishak League and Jatiya Sramik League – have become very active and lively.

Aspirants are  lobbying with top party leaders in a bid to get top positions in the new committees.

They said after the present leaders of different AL associate bodies were found involved in various misdeeds, directly or indirectly, the party’s high command is now seeking new leaders with clean image at the top posts.

Notable, during the recent crackdown a result, including top four posts of these four organisations and directly or indirectly involved with the management of tenders and extortion and casinos are going to be dropped from next committee.

Awami League Presidium member Kazi Zafar Ullah, in his speech, said, only dedicated and deserving people will be given the opportunity. Those who are not accused of corruption and are not more than 50 years old, is not associated with illegal income like extortion and casinos - will get a place in the committee. There is no opportunity for any planning or lobbying around the upcoming conference.
