New price of internet bandwidth would be effective from July 1 as the posts and telecommunications division (PTD) has further reduced the price. The decision was taken on Thursday at a meeting with Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar in the chair to expedite the progress of the journey of ‘digital Bangladesh’, said a PTD press release, reports BSS.
PTD Secretary Ashoke Kumar Biswas was present. Mustafa Jabbar said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government is pro-people and technology friendly. The government has reduced the bandwidth price again so the students and mass people could use internet with affordable price, he added. The minister said total bandwidth usage was 7.5 gbps in 2008 and now it stood at over 1100 gbps due to effective and innovative decision of the government.
The revised price of IP transit for IIG is Tk 350 for bandwidth 500-999 mbps and Tk 335 for minimum two years deal. Besides, the prices would be Tk 300 for 50,000+ mbps and Tk 285 for minimum two years deal. On the other hand, IP transit for ISP is Tk 400 for bandwidth mbps (5-19, only upazila and union) and Tk 375 for minimum three years deal. The price would be Tk 310 for 40,000 mbps and Tk 290 for minimum three years deal.
BTCL local content transmission charge is Tk 30 for greater Dhaka for per mbps while Tk 100 for outside Dhaka. For education institutions and training centers are Tk 300 for the bandwidth of 5-99 mbps and Tk 270 for minimum five years deal while Tk 200 for 3,000+ mbps and Tk 180 for minimum five years deal. For government and semi government and corporate offices are Tk 395 for bandwidth 5-49 mbps and Tk 355 for minimum five years deal while Tk 250 for 3,000+ mbps and Tk 225 for five years deal.
For VPN service is Tk 300 for countrywide single rate of bandwidth 1-5 mbps and Tk 30 for 10,000 or plus mbps. Moreover, users in rural areas would get 10 percent discount on the above prices.
