NCC poll will be fair, neutral and peaceful: Agriculture Minister

Agriculture Minister Dr Mohammad Abdur Razzaque said that the election of Narayanganj City Corporation will be very fair, neutral and peaceful. Which will set an example at the national level. To this end, the government has provided all possible assistance to the Election Commission. The law enforcement agencies will also be responsible from their position for holding fair, impartial and fair elections.

The minister said this while addressing a memorial meeting of late agriculturist Shawkat Momen Shahjahan, agriculturist Abdul Mannan and agriculturist Badiuzzaman Badshah at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Saturday. The event was organized by the Bangladesh Agricultural University Alumni Association.

Agriculture Minister and President of the Bangladesh Agricultural University Alumni Association Dr Mohammad Abdur Razzaque presided the programme. Amir Hossain Amu, a member of the Awami League's advisory council, gave a virtual speech as the chief guest. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim, State Minister for Culture KM Khalid and Whip Atiur Rahman Atiq were present as special guests. The agriculturist Aolad Hossain moderated the programme where Bangladesh Agricultural University Alumni Association Executive President Hamidur Rahman, Sahadara Mannan MP, Anupam Shahjahan Joy, Ragib Hasan spoke on the programme.

The Agriculture Minister further said that the contribution of agriculturists is recognized at the national level today. The role of agriculturists in providing food to 170 million people from a small area of land is unique. The way they have played a role in the past in national politics and crisis, they will have to play that role in the days to come. Conspiracies are still being hatched against the country, lies and propaganda are being spread. The agriculturists have to come forward unitedly to deal with these evil forces. The reputation of agriculturists must be kept intact.

Speaking as the chief guest, Amir Hossain Amu recalled that he had fought many movements with the late agriculturist Shawkat Momen Shahjahan, agriculturist Abdul Mannan and agriculturist Badiuzzaman Badshah. He had a deep relationship with them. They had a very clear idea about politics, courage and determination. He further said that as the agriculturists of the country have contributed to the national politics and leadership, they are also showing their skills and success in different fields and professional work. It is a source of pride and honor for agriculturists.
