NCC councilor, 9 others held for attacking MP’s car

A councilor of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) and nine other people were detained over attack on the car of MP from Cumilla-2 Selima Ahmed Merry.

NCC councilor of Ward No. 5 Golam Mohammad Sadril, who is son of former BNP MP Muhammad Giasuddin, was held from his residence on Wednesday night. The other arrestees are his fellows.

Selima Ahmed Merry’s car came under attack that night at Omarpur area at Shiddhirganj in Narayanganj. She, however, escaped the attack as she was not inside the car at the time.

The MP came to Omarpur area to negotiate a family dispute between her relatives Salma Begum and Hafez Ahmed. After concluding the negotiation, she was leaving the residence for Cumilla. At the time, she and others heard shouting inside her relative’s house. Some people attacked her car and broken its glasses.

On information police rushed to the spot and detained the ten people, including the NCC councilor. Police said that they detained the people for their alleged involvement in attacking the car.

Inspector Shidirganj police station Jasimuddin confirmed the matter.
