National hackathon on Frontier Technologies begins

With the slogan “Think-Hack-Solve", National Hackathon on Frontier Technologies kicked off aiming to find ICT based innovative solutions for the most citizen centric challenges in the country.  Under the ICT Division, “Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) project” with its Startup Bangladesh Banner in association with “High Commission of India in Bangladesh” and “Tech Mahindra Limited (TechM)” are organizing this initiative. 

ICT Division is conducting various activities for the development of the ICT sector under the right direction of state minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak. This hackathon is another remarkable initiative of the ICT Sector.

Enhancing the capacity of youth for creating a startup ecosystem in Bangladesh, providing investment support to emerging entrepreneurs, imparting training and mentoring to entrepreneurs in a world-class startup friendly institution and promoting domestic innovation and showcasing innovative ideas in global arena are the most important aims of the Hackathon. It will also support to connect with international investors also. Interested anyone above 18 years may apply individually or forming a team of max. A team of three members may comprised with one Team Leader and 2 members. The tentative date of the Final Hackathon is February 28-29, at Independent University, Bangladesh.

The top 50 teams will participate at two-day long hackathon from all the apllications across the country. About 50 mentors will attend to guide participants at final hackathon. Finally, the top 10 participants will be awarded as winner. The winning teams will be provided mentoring and training with R&D support at “Makers Lab” of Tech Mahindra Limited (TechM), India. At the same time, necessary investment will be made in maturing the innovative project. After the maturity of the projects, they will be supported to bring their project to the growth stage by promoting through the marketing channels of Tech Mahindra Limited (TechM) in different countries of the world. In addition, certificates will be given at the hackathon to the winners and besides that the necessary mentoring and grooming will also be ensured by the Startup Bangladesh-iDEA.

Interested people may participate in this hackathon by doing online registration. Divisional campaigns are being organized in ten universities. In the meanwhile, university campaigns have been already started and a campaign was held in Rangpur on Wednesday at "Haji Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University". 

More than 300 youth from different areas of Rangpur participated in that campaign. The schedule for the next University Campaigns will be shared on website and Facebook page of Startup Bangladesh said by the Communication Consultant of Startup Bangladesh- iDEA under ICT Division Mr. Shohag Chandra Das. Ten challenges have been identified for the hackathon. Frontier Technologies like- Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Big Data, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Robotics may be used to solve hackathon challanges. To develop a startup culture in the country and transform the country into digital Bangladesh by utilizing innovation, The project director (additional Secretary) of the Project Syed Mojibul Huq invited all to submit their innovative solution through online registration before the deadline.
