Nanak for unmasking Bangabandhu killing masterminds

Awami League Joint General Secretary Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak on Saturday demanded unmasking the local and international masterminds behind the assassination of Bangabandhu to bring them to justice.

“The local and international conspirators of the Bangabandhu killing should be unmasked to bring them to justice,” he told a discussion at IEB seminar room marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) headquarters and its Dhaka centre arranged the discussion with IEB President and Awami League Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Engineer Md Abdus Sabur in the chair.

AL Organizing Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, IEB General Secretary Engineer Khandker Manjur Morshed, Vice-President Engineer Nuruzzaman, Bangabandhu Prokoushali Parishad President Professor Dr Habibur Rahman, IEB former president Engineer Nurul Huda addressed the discussion, among others.

Nanak said: “When the month of August comes, we not only get mourned but also become worried recalling the brutal assassination of Bangabandhu on August 15, 1975.”

He said during the BNP-Jamaat regime, gruesome grenade attacks were carried out attempting to kill the then opposition leader and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina and other national leaders of the party on August 21 in 2004. The anti-liberation forces had hatched conspiracy to turn Bangladesh into Pakistan through the grenade attacks, he added. He said the killers of Bangabandhu had been brought to justice during the tenure of Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “Now this is our demand that the behind the scene perpetrators of the Bangabandhu killing should be brought to justice,” he said.
